Sandy Chung, MD, FAAP

- Medical Director, CHANGE program.

Dr. Chung is President of Fairfax Pediatric Associates, PC and is a board-certified pediatrician. With over twelve years of clinical experience, she has a special interest in working with families to avoid preventable health problems, such as obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease. Dr. Chung went to medical school at the University of Virginia and received her residency training at Inova Fairfax Hospital and the University of Virginia. She is active on several medical boards and is interested in health information technology and advocacy. As a mother of four children, she writes parenting advice books, articles, and maintains an educational blog for parents at drsandychung.blogspot.com


Sharon Boyle, CPNP

- Clinical Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Sharon is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner who has over twenty years of experience working at Fairfax Pediatric Associates, PC. In that span of time, she has seen the growing challenges facing families in food and activity choices. She has attended conferences pertaining to managing overweight children to gain insight into this area. Sharon received her nursing degree from the University of Virginia, and her pediatric nurse practitioner certification from Catholic University of America. She looks forward to working with your family in the CHANGE program.


Susan Baum, RD, CDE

- Registered Dietician, Certified Diabetes Educator.

Susan is a graduate of California State University at Fresno, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Nutrition-Dietetics. She completed her internship at Wadsworth V.A. Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Susan is presently a nutrition consultant and a Diabetes Educator at Potomac Hospital. Her experience includes working as the Nutrition Manager with Inova HealthSource. She has also worked as a clinical dietitian at Inova Fairfax Hospital, a nutritionist at Austin-Travis County Health Department in Texas, and as a clinical dietitian at Harbor-U.C.L.A. Medical center.


Amy Pacos, PsyD

- Psychologist.

Dr. Pacos is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and their families. Dr. Pacos earned her Bachelor's degree from Allegheny College in Meadville , PA with a double major in Psychology and Education. She earned her Master's and Doctoral degree (Psy.D.) from the American School of Professional Psychology-Washington, DC Campus. Dr. Pacos works with children and adolescents with a wide range of disorders. She specializes in neuropsychological evaluation and treatment planning for clients with learning disorders, developmental disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), mental retardation, brain injuries, seizures, toxin or chemical exposure, genetic disorders, and social/emotional problems. In her free time, Dr. Pacos enjoys being active and spending time outside with her dog.


Jodi Remsen, PT, DPT

- Physical Therapist.

Jodi has been working as a Physical Therapist since graduating from New York Medical College in 2003 with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. She went on to obtain her doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Marymount University. Jodi currently works as an outpatient Physical Therapist treating patients with musculoskeletal dysfunction using a dynamic approach to active functional rehabilitation, with one of her biggest focuses being patient education to prevent re-injury. She has a special interest in Childhood Obesity, both treating and preventing it. Jodi completed an American Physical Therapy Association home study certificate course entitled Childhood Obesity: Physical Therapy Strategies for Pediatric Weight Control in 2010. When not at work, Jodi enjoys being active with her husband and twin girls.


Wali Gauvin, MD

- Pediatric Cardiologist and Director of The Health Heart Center.

Dr. Gauvin has a expertise in noninvasive and preventive cardiology. He manages and treats children and adolescents with pediatric overweight, obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Dr. Gauvin graduated from Upstate Medical University at Syracuse, completed pediatric residency at Winthrop University and pediatric cardiology fellowship at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
