Susan Baum RD CDE
Certified Diabetes Educator

Susan is a graduate of the California State University at Fresno where she earned a bachelor's degree in Nutrition-Dietetics. She completed her internship at Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

Susan is a nutrition consultant and a diabetes educator. She is a nutrition manager at INOVA and provides individual diet instructions and educational community and corporate classes. Susan has worked as a clinician dietician at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, a nutritionist at the Austin-Travis County Health Department in Texas and a clinical dietician at Harbor-U.C.L.A. Medical Center.

Choosing the foods you offer your children is one of the most important health decisions you can make. But knowing what to choose is not always easy. When you seek help - trust an expert. Susan Baum is a Registered Dietician credentialed by the Commision on Dietetic Registration and the American Dietetic Association.   She is also a Certified Diabetes Educator with the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. She is clinically trained to work with children who have medical conditions. Nutrition plans are personalized and easy to understand.

What to expect during an appointment?

The basic consultation includes the following:

Medical history including weight and family history
Review of laboratory tests
Assessment of supplement and medication usage
Food intolerance and allergies
Diet history and review of current eating habits
Assessment of nutrition needs
Implement a tailored plan of care

Initial session is 60 minutes in length

Additional 30 minute follow-up appointments are available. Lifestyle changes often require ongoing support and guidance for optimal results.

Fees: one hour initial consultatin is $120 and on half hour follow up is $60.

Insurance: A medical diagnosis and a physician referral are usually needed for insurance to cover nutrition therapy however many insurance do not cover nutrition counseling. I am a provider for Aetna and Cigna. I am in the Carefirst and United Health Care options discount program. This entitles you to a 20% discount.
